The Big Sky Ring
The Big Sky Ring
The Big Sky Ring gets its name from Montana, and more specifically the Hell Creek Formation east of Glendive, Montana where these Triceratops fossils were sourced from! Along with the Triceratops bone, tiny meteorite shavings encircle the entire ring to give it some shine when the light catches it just right. A bright Sapphire Blue pigment was mixed with Blue Glow Powder to give the ring is signature Big Sky appearance.5
These fossils were acquired directly from the George Wolf collection and were originally found and dug by the Wolf family themselves. George Wolf was a member of the Texas Archeological Society for 35 years and his collection has been on display in schools, libraries and mineral shows.
The fragments that these inlay pieces come from were found at a dig site that was a partial skeleton of a Triceratops. These were fragments that had been exposed and on the surface. They were too small to be used in the restoration of the larger bones so they were made available once the full skeleton was completed. The provenance of these bones is one of my favorite things about them! These were sourced directly by Glowstone Designs and not purchased through a ring supply company or bulk order warehouse.
